There are places in Indiana that are simply a piece of heaven. With 290 different nature preserves scattered across the state at the time of this writing, you could say it’s virtually impossible to go wrong. We guess it can be difficult to decide which incredible Indiana nature preserve you should visit first, but no worries – you’ll be able to experience them all in due time. Why not start with one of the most remarkable? Come find out why Cressmoor Prairie Nature Preserve is one of the most important reserves in the entire Hoosier State. Plant lovers, beware: you may not want to leave!
For decades, the Prairie has helped provide a sanctuary for plants and animals that are rarely seen in Hoosier State.
However, these species represent only a small part of the incredibly diverse list of permanent residents of Cressmoor Prairie; there are over 250 species of plants here, so your inner botanist will likely be delighted.
If you come in late spring or early summer, you’ll likely see the reserve at its best. Brightly colored wildflowers litter the landscape and attract many pollinators, like bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and more!
Some plant species you can expect to see in Cressmoor Valley Nature Reserve include wild quinine, rattlesnake master, grassland wharf, blaze stars, and more. Which one do you prefer?
We highly, honestly recommend it – with so much to see and experience, you’re sure to find something ‘new’ on every visit.
